My laptop charger died a few days ago and I cannot charge my laptop (I am on my Ipod at the moment)

My computer still works it is just the charger which isn't charging the laptop

Any Advice?

It is a HP Dv-5 series

I don't want to state the obvious but... buy a new charger? ^_^

That is the only real solution that is hassle free.

I know it is the obvious, but I am cheap and curious if there is another fix

Fixed the charger.

I opened the AC Adapter Cell box thing and tightened a few wired then taped it up.

Would this be bad? I mean the taping with normal tape?

your power brick is most likely to have misaligned capacitors, this can be fixed by realigning them in a strong electric field

do you have one of those old CRT tvs or monitors? they can be used to fix it

like this:

you need to power it up for a minute or so then open up the casing

then touch a metal part with one hand to ground yourself

then bring the power adaptor near it with your other hand, hold it there for a minute or so and it should be fixed
