i've got a technical problem. My monitor keeps randomly turning off, is it my video card causing problems or wat??

i think you might need a new monitor.

monitor cable(s) not plugged properly or faulty (both power cable and/or video cable)

well how old is your monitor? i have had similar problems before but after i restart my computer or turn it off for a while it becomes ok ...

same as me. my monitor turns off. then i have to restart my computer. My monitors about 4-5 years old, so im not suprised..

i had to get my 1 YEAR OLD monitor fixed just a couple of weeks ago.
the problem just comes up overnight though.. by the morning it wont display anything while 12 hours before it was working fine.

Being that age its not surprising that you are starting to have problem also depends on the brand, its current condition where it is kept amount of use etc but like you said all things point towards it being a problem with power, it that case might be an idea to take it to a computer repair shop but i doubt it would be worth fixing or if they would even fix it although it all depends on a number of variables.

maybe its your crt monitor...if its your video card, there will be errors in dialog boxes sayin that the video card is malfunctioning [which happened to me].
ive alos had problems with my crt, the plugs or whatever it is needed repairing..but you might as well get an lcd...
