I've seen a few threads that start advertising all these 'el-cheapo' stores around, so may as well have one thread that had all of them together, in one nice list.

These can be for any electronics stuff, but i'm assuming it will mainly focus on computer stores/shops.

Computer Stores:
Harris technology - www.ht.com.au

El-Cheapo Shops:
IT RITE - www.itrite.com.au / www.it-rite.com
BeeCom - www.beecom.com.au

Yeah, just post a link and I'll add it to the list. There's just a few to start off with.

Conditions:
*verify the links first!!! don't put dodgy stuff up.
**if you're submitting a site, make sure the prices are within the same range or cheaper, (we're all cheaparses here and want the CHEAPEST)
***Sydney Metro only thanks... (i know it's a bit dodgy but tough!)

Please don't get carried away on some stupid argument!

Can't really say any shop is "cheap"

When looking at those stores you'll find that some have some cheap stuff whilsts others don't depending on what hardware/software you want.

Typically, I'd pick SecretNet as a cheap store considering I bought $50 worth of lollies from them (they also sell computer parts).

I might have to correct you here McLake ;)

www.apple.com.au/education/store

You'll receive discounts if you're a student, (university, high school). Ask about it when you purchase a Mac, you'll be surprised at how much you can end up saving.

Alternatively, you can apply to become an Apple Developer, on the ADC (Apple Developer Connection). More savings can be had (thousands, if you purchase your equipment correctly, and using your one-off 20-25% discount, you'll be making a killing).

More details at http://developer.apple.com :)

newbies bad comp shop experience #2
MCT hurstville (opposite library)

gave my mum a very good quote on friday, so we went today.

"are you sure you get get me fx5950?" - i dont think theres such thing as 5950

"i dont want the LCD, i want a phillips crt" - crts arnt made anymore, so they are more expensive than lcd now

"ok what price can you give me if you dont include the monitor?" - *refuses to give me a price* we price match

"umart can do this for $2400" - *accuses me of lying* if they can do that price, then go to them immediately because thats impossible.

"ok i see, so what about the price you gave me yesterday?" - it will probably be higher than that since you've changed some parts"

"what do you mean? i dropped the monitor and i still have to pay higher? - *mumbles some about me different parts and blah blah*

"kkthxbi~"

that is all. dont go there.

I wish I was a bad-ass computer store techy.

You'd have so much fun with the n00bs, parents, grandparents and other kiddies. (for example primary school kids who want a new PC).

LOL :p *evil*

I own my own comp business selling Hardware...

Its a registered business and prices are negotiable... Perfect for anyone that lives around the Manly-Chatswood area...

I also service computers (troubleshooting). My site will be up soon

@Understated - Yeah, sometimes people would prefer to pay a few bucks extra for delivery from within Sydney/NSW. I've purchased from Gamedude a few times, but nowadays, if you can find the model/part you are after, there are plenty of online stores who can match the same pricing (eg Gamedude's price). Sometimes it is cheaper to buy from QLD, but you'll have to wait longer (unless, of course, you decide to pay more for an express delivery - somehow ;)).

If you know what you're looking for, chances are you can save a lot of money by searching and visiting sites who are having sales, clearances etc, online (not just Gamedude). :)
