Okay please can someone clarify?

What DOES happen if you fail English in the HSC?

My mum is convinced that you do not get your HSC certificate and she's serious - im still not sure whether to believe her or not :S

To fail do you have to fail the entire year or just the HSC exam/trials?

Can you back it up with some websites?

Thanks

Fail as in not handing in assesments? Or fail as in shit marks. If it's the latter you still pass your HSC.

Since English will definitely count as two units towards your final ten units for the HSC, failing English basically means that you passed less than ten units and hence don't get a cert.

What are you talking about
Just 'cause you 'fail(<50%)' a subject doesn't mean you don't get a cert.
Even if it is english.
You can only be deemed unworthy of a cert if you get an N Award, by not handing in/attempting seriously your assessments.
If you did your best and got 10% for your whole english, you'd still get a cert.. Just a band 1 in English

Aligning of HSC Marks starts at 50 anyways, so you can't 'fail' in that sense. It is possible to get less than that, and if you get that and it's because you didn't do shit, then you're more likely to get a non-attempt. You'll still get a HSC.

Ugh, my bad. This guy speaks the truth.

Either way, English is more important in that sense that other subjects, since it'll definitely count towards your final ten units.

Yah but OP is talking about HSC, not UAI, so his performance doesn't matter, whether it counts or not.

Dw Mr. OP, you'll be fine :)

Even if you fail English (excluding cases of N-awards), you'll probably still get a certificate saying that you completed the HSC. Your UAI on the other hand, will be a disaster.
