When discussing context when writing an essay for Cosi should i refer to the context in which Nowra wrote the play or the context of the time in which the play is set???

I would say refer to the settings in the play as they are asking for a analyse of the play not the author

It depends.

For example, if you were to talk about the shock of the language and themes that the text contains, you would relate it to Nowra's context (1992?). But if you were talking about (dunno if this actually happens) a character's shock at the language that another character used, you would relate it to the context of the play's setting.
