So heres my story...

Sometime at the end of November I went too a christmas casual group interview for cotton on.
I don't hear back for a while so i call up a few times and eventually around 2 weeks later they call me up saying I got the job which I was really happy about. Then i dont hear back for another 2 weeks and then they call me up and tell me I have an induction the next day which was a school day and I said I had an exam and they told me it was the last 1 they were doing which was kind of a pain but it worked out alright in the end.
So i rock up too this Induction (which we didn't get paid for) and the chic holding its about an hour late because she got called away to an "emergency".

4 weeks later i havent had any work I've called up numerous times and heard nothing. Eventually i get 3 shifts which 2 are for 3 hours and 1 4 hours. This was back in January by the way.

A month after my first shift I havn't been paid at ALL!! so i ring up and they apoligise and say i'll be paid by the end of the week or maybe the week after.

Still not paid...

So i go straight to head office after this and they tell me to call the regional manager about it because she has my details.. by now I'm really starting too get pissed off they've mucked me around so much from the beginning and they can't even pay me for it AND now there asking me too chase it up. They should be the ones that are VERY SORRY about the situation and chasing up my pay.
So i call her n she calls head office n so on... should be paid by the end of the week!

and guess what.... STILL NOT PAID

So now my mum starts too ring up.. they tell her i should be paid by the end of the week again and what'd you no they loose my paperwork.... TWICE!!

so they take my details and i should be paid again by the end of the week

I'm so frigin pissed off now

Yesterday I FINALLY get paid ....$38 what the hell

I worked 10 hours ... They better believe that I'm getting the rest of my money I didn't work for free

GRRRRR I'm so annoyed

NEVA work for cotton on... WORST company ever they're so unorganised and think they can get away with treating their employees like shit.

Any ideas on what to do... It's been so long

Are u with a union? if u are, call them up and they will raise hell. If not, and ur looking at quiting, just take wat they owe u out of the til and apply somewhere else. Sounds like they have treated u pretty badly...i thought clothing stores were ok, but i guess cotton on isnt that good. btw is this the cotton on at northlands, because something similar happened to my cousin at the cotton on inside northlands.

Lol, that y Johny was a good PM. I think their is a new "no disidvantage test" or something like that being brought out which might help u. Ill get more info on it 4 u once i find the letter i got from work about it.

wow, and i thought my employer (greasy yobbo who pays me 3 different penalty rates on sundays, unpaid overtime etc etc etc etc fucking prick) was bad, but he's never forgotten to pay me!! that is terrible!

Yeah I had problems with Cotton on as well. Never got any work (christmas casual), called them to ask why, got told they tried to contact me on my mobile something like 14 times, which is bullshit as no calls from them, missed or otherwise, are registered on my phone and they also claimed I don't have a voicemail which is also bullshit because I do and people leave messages on it nearly on a daily basis...so I am convinced they lied about it to get rid of me. I didn't pursue it further. Will never ever work for them ever again, though.

You are entitled to your pay, keep hassling until you get it.

Yeah, it's not our problem if they hired too many people, though. Too bad, you hired us to work, we expect to get work. I told them as much, and they got really shitty with me, like I had no right to expect that as a employee of the company that I would recieve some kind of work at some point in my contract. I wasn't asking to get heaps and heaps of shifts. But I didn't work even one hour the whole three months. I basically put my life on hold waiting for them to contact me. That's just rude. And then for them to lie about it....aaaargh. I waited until my contract was up before I started making serious enquiries because I was worried about looking pushy! lol i learnt my lesson there for sure.

And you're right, it's the store managers etc as well. You would think people in that position would care about their company's image just a little. Evidently not. The OP's case is even worse. Going through all that crap, working only 10 hours and being paid only a fraction of what you're supposed to get after months of chasing it up just screams DONT WORK FOR US, WE HATE YOU. lol.

lol, i got roughted $8000 cause officeworks was paying me $8 for a computer specialist. it was because i was 16 at the time.. neally 2 years down the road i stuffed them over by my unions and fair trading. got $8000 backpaid and i get the proper $18 p/hr and $36 on sundays =) just go to fair trading.
