Some stuff you might be able to get, others you won't. Either way if you do attempt to learn it on your own, you will indefinitely have a headstart. You'll be a bit more familar with the content than everyone else.

Yeah you should be able to do 4 unit by youself except some really difficult ones.

Personally, I have done all 3 units topics myself and some people say that 3 unit topics aren't that different from 4 unit topics.

So far I have done some complex and graphs and I am pretty confident with it. I will take a break from 4 unit since the next topic to learn is mechanics....

By the way, 3 unitz is a freaking tank~

Yeh four unit you can teach yourself, You just have to be motivated enough to work your way through the hard parts.

i reckon you can learn some stuff by yourself but some other stuff is just way too confusing. and there is some overlap between 3u and 4u- like conics is the same as parametrics. integration polys volumes and graphs are like 3 unit but they have more ideas like integration by parts. but complex nos is completely unique- it still uses 3u skill though

i think its quite do-able. Note that some of the examples in Fitzpatrick are a bit confusing, so maybe cambridge or terry lee might be good books to learn from. You should be fine with complex numbers (although you need to know how to do binomial expansions for 1 sections, which is a 3 unit hsc topic), poly, graphs, volumes and conics, harder3u and mechanics are a bit more difficult to learn, but still not that bad (its better if you have done 3u applications of calculus to the physical world first).

Good luck!

I say don't bother.

But maybe thats just me being lazy, and I suppose I can't talk, coz i get like 70% in 4u.

You could start. Some topics aren't that complicated, though you may need a techer to explain somestuff

If you're interested in it, go for it. It can't hurt to get ahead of your cohort.

Might be out of 120, and maybe there is some tight competition.
