Hi,

I'm a student from Germany and I'm studying business administration.
My focus is economics and I'm doing some int. management and supply chain management courses in Germany.
In July i want to start my study abroad semester at the UNSW.

I have some questions and I hope you can help me.

1. I start my study in semester 2 (july to november) so I can only choose courses from study period 2?
For example in Economics
http://www.timetable.unsw.edu.au/2013/KENSUGRDT2ECON.html

So I cannot choose courses from teaching period 1?

2. Are there any "easy" courses which you could recommend to get good grades? My goal is at least 75 % in each subject.
In my case I can not write perfect assignments in English because we have never done it before at University only in german language.
One classmate was last year at the UNSW and he joined the courses

ECON2111_Introduction_to_Development_Economics
ECON2127_Environmental_Economics

both with more than 80%

I find these courses interesting:
ECON1401 Economic Analysis
Econ1203: Business and Economic Statistics
Econ1202: Quantitative Analysis for Business and Economics

mark1012
mgmt1001

Which courses would you recommend a study abroad student?

Please give me feedback
thanks

If you are not confident with writing in English, I would avoid MARK1012 and MGMT1001. They have lot of essays for assessments.

I did Business and Economic Statistics, it's very mathematical if that's what you enjoy.

I have not done the other two subjects.

How mathematical are the courses? its pure statistic?

i like courses like mikro and makro.
But i passed them in my university so i can not take them at the UNSW
Are there similar courses like mikro and makro or

ECON2111_Introduction_to_Development_Economics
ECON2127_Environmental_Economics ?

like international trade ECON4101 or
ECON4102 Strategic Market Behaviour and Government Regulation

does someone have experience in these subjects?

Business and Economical Statistics is mostly statistics however, you will need to explain some of the data they present before you. E.g. why R^2 is a certain percentage in a linear regression or why is the data collected bias.

ok thanks for your advice.
In general would you say Econ1203: Business and Economic Statistics is easy?
How about Econ1202: Quantitative Analysis for Business and Economics and ECON1401 Economic Analysis?

thank for your advice I read the course outline and it sounds not that difficult.
Econ1203: sounds a little bit more mathematical.

Are there any other reviews about the subjects?
ECON2322 The New Europe
ECON4102 Strategic Market Behaviour and Government Regulation
ECON4350 Special Topics in Economics
ECON2103 Business and Government

Aren't those 2 honour/masters courses? so you won't be able to do those unless you are doing Postgraduate.

Stick to any courses starting with the number 1 or 2

eg econ1200, econ2001, econ2131, econ1031 (yes theyre made up).

MGMT1101 (inlt business) is a pretty easy course same with MGMT1001.

Herzlich Wilkommen in Australien!

I think you would do ok in ECON1203 as most of these topics are covered well in the Abitur..and there is minimal writing, really 2 paragraphs or so.
Business and Government apparently has some essay writing, so I don't know if you want to do that, but it's a little bit similar to microeconomics.
You would enjoy New Europe, but I'm sure they teach similar subjects in Germany, but would be very easy for you to get a good mark, (but there are essays!)

As to finding lecture notes and exams, you can find past exams at unsw library, or from your colleagues.

Viel Glück

ps. Hopefully I can ask you questions about german universities and exchange when I go there. :)
