well it could either have meant discretion in terms of being quiet about something, which i talked about (i.e. hiding peoples names, media bans etc)

but most likely it was referring to judicial discrestion so things like -

sentencing and bail. - it have information on both in the stimulas, so i'd 95% sure thats what they wanted.

I talked about police discretion in choosing to investigate and arrest the respective suspects, discretion in deciding on bail and judicial discretion in sentencing and talked about each person separately even though i sort of repeated myself a bit (because it took up more space so it looked like I knew what I was on about)

i talked about police discretion, like what crimes to investigate, what to charge people with etc.
Then when i was finishing it off i remembered judical discretion, so i threw in like a line on that.

I wrote heaps on this. I would've prefered this to be the 12 mark one then 7 cos I think I wrote way to much for it and too little for the 12. Anyway I wrote about discrescion in the police deciding what to investigate and also in relation to bail and remand and how remand is only supposed to be is you have a good reason. Then I talked about discretion in sentencing and how the punishment should be appropriate to the crime committed.

I just talked about what the syllabus said... just about the judicial discretion - and talked about how it was evident in sentencing giving examples.. and then talked about the discretion being limited in one case by the doctrine of precedent and minimum penalties...
