Criteria for Discovery Related Texts? (1 Viewer)

For my next assessment, I have to find two related texts about discovery and write an essay on it while comparing it with poems by Robert Frost.

I just have a question about picking related texts for discovery:

Are students not allowed to pick related texts from the HSC English Prescriptions list?

For example I was thinking of choosing Life of Pi however my school isn't using that as an area of study. We're doing poems by Robert Frost.

I think it's allowed it's just looked down upon because the markers see it as "not much effort" finding a related text.

Don't do a prescribed text if you can help it.Also don't do a song as a related.
