Police need to be able to hold these guys in custody until their court date. You can't tell me that guys who go on these rampages aren't a danger to society.
There needs to be harsher sentences for this sort of thing. No more slaps on the wrist give them 20 years.
What they don't need is to be able to force alcohol outlets to close.

Does that apply to white as well as non white offenders?

There is no excuse for what happened on Sunday, it was just plain stupid. It is well known that there are clubs and bars in Sydney that do their best to keep Middle Easterners (specifically Lebs) out. There are justified reasons to keep out certain individuals because of their behaviour, but not an entire ethnic group.

The reasons were varied - they were closing soon; a guest list only, due to Christmas parties; too many guys; not enough females. With every refusal it was obvious to us that the real reason was we were Lebanese.

Penalties for riot offenses have been raised from 5 to 15 years. Problem is no one ever got 5 years before and no one will get 15 years now.
