How effectively does your prescribed text tell stories to reveal both the personal and shared nature of human experiences?

In addition to the above, you need to ensure you aim your analysis at answering the question, that is: analsyis --> how this analysis is relevant to the question. Analysis that is irrelevant to the question (i.e. does not explain how the Crucible tells stories revealing personal/shared nature of human experiences) will not help you in answering the question.

For an enhanced analysis, have a look at the following. It can help you not only improve your analysis, but also learn to make better links to the question, so you can achieve higher marks:

I hope this helps! 😄

yes for sure, forgot to mention that. this explains why memorising essays and trying to tweak it in exams usually dont work well. this is probably one of the easier hsc essay questions probably because it was the year of covid
Agreed. This was the approach I used haha. It yielded decent results for me but people aiming at a band 6 should definitely go beyond this approach. :)

trying to work towards that myself too and struggling, if only they didnt make this subject compulsory i would love school lol :(
Good luck! You got this for sure! :D

If it wasn't, I would've been set for a much higher ATAR, oh well.

There was actually a thread about whether or not English should be compulsory just over a month before you joined:

looks like im definitely not the only one lmao i would say its not useful and universal enough to be compulsory, not saying its useless or anything because lets be honest a lot of subs are irrelevant outside of school but like what they've said its so unfair for internationals or ppl that arent as good at eng
Entirely agree. That's legit me right now I'm so lost in this subject, don't know how I got a B in year 10 and why did I not choose advanced because standard scales down so badly it's just depressing.
100%, this was also my perspective as an EAL/D student who had to do Standard because of timetable problems.

Hey, by any chance did you complete this essay. I'm trying to do it myself for the Merchant of Venice but I'm completely confused.
