Why is Basel Problem so common in MX2 exams?

They've used the living shit out of it.
Because it's the first p-series to converge.

And just to clarify, people usually associate p-series to integer exponents, but they converge for any p > 1.

Overall the paper was straighforward up until the last question. Q1-15 were generic textbook stuff (bar 1 question which required a bit of thinking but was only worth 2 marks and wasn't hard when you worked out what you were doing - i.e. finding coordinates of C ). Last question was mostly tedious more than anything else.

Yea MC was bullshit as. Had to do a lot of work for 1 lousy mark. Yea for the ARRANGE question one, I got 21 but I thought it was just too easy so I tossed up between 9 or 12.

Yeah, I think the 21 one was wrong because it didn't factor in the factor there were two R's, therefore the would be less combinations (I think).
