The HSC 2U maths exam is out of 120, so do you mean 88/120? If so that would prob get you about an 82-83. Im pretty sure that band 6 (90) usually equals about 100-105/120, and on a really easy paper (e.g. 2008) i think it would have been about 109/120.
I think 98+ is band 6

I did terrible - 78/120. But that's 2nd in my Adv Maths class (Out of 9)

For Ext1 I got 36/84....even worse :(
That's 3rd out of 4

Maybe I should study.
Hehe, I beat campbell in 3U ^_^ (I'll have to check for more errors which he would have made marking it!)

Yeah, even 60% raw for mxt2 could be a band 6 ;)
Seeing a few peoples results, I've noticed that 60% (not 60 marks) will just about scrape a band 6 in MX2... although of course... we'll all aim higher! :D

P.S. I start MX2 next week :) w00t.

Yes, scrape unless your mxt2 ability improved before the HSC ^^

Hehe, awesome congrats!

Most people are at a consensus that a 60/84 (approximately) will get you an E4 in Mathematics Extension 1. :D
nice =D
does that fluctuate much depending on what school you go to?
(my school is generally at the lower end of the top 100, and is quite small... MX1 class is 8 ppl)

wow, thats pretty darn good.
this year apparently, an accelerated kid toped our folks doing 2 unit, he got 118.
Isn't that normal for accelerants? I topped my CSSA Trial last year with 119 and the 2nd place was by fellow accelerant who got 112.

Your school rank has nothing to do with it really. It's just about getting a decent internal rank and then going respectively well with the rest of the state! :D

This is what people have estimated their marks to be around and it on numerous tutoring websites which give rather detailed information about the aligning and scaling processes.

I'm still a bit unsure by what you mean there but if you meant :

-you walked into the exam and got 88/120 ( remember the 2U exam is out of 120) then im guessing you would get about 82-84 HSC MARK, something around there.

-if you mean, 88/100 (ie. 88% of the marks) or 105.5/120 (raw) then you would get anywhere between 90-92 HSC MARK on most papers.

So then the HSC MARK (external e.g 92) is summed with your internal mark (say 90)

and you get (90+92)/2= 91 Overall mark for the subject. Hope that helps

Yeah, it's sad in a way. But i don't think you'll be affected heaps. Just get a good HSC mark then see what happens.
