bah! JOV lives vicariously through towers
andc to quote willy wonka (a very very smart chocolaty little man) 'we are the music makers and we are the dreamers of dreams!' he was obviously pro towers!

Everyones talking about work experience for the Journalism course, what if u haven't done anything. The place i live pretty much rules out any experience in the industry. Do u think i still have a chance? cause i so want to get into CSU at Bathurst.

its cool.. just talk up anything you could have done that relates to journo.. have you written any articles for a school paper or year book? you could turn that into freelance writing for non profit journals. or something like that! where are you from? maybe you can organise a week of work experience for your local paper... you dont have to already have done it, just say that you have it organised and will be completing it in the next few weeks. that at least gives you a little more time

when i applied for comm radio i hadnt done any experience to do with radio- id never been in a studio! so its no big deal.. maybe if you have had ANY sort of communications experience (after all, comm comes 1st, journo comes 2nd) like organising your formal, or yr 12 jersey, writing for newsletters, making a school video, editing or any stuff like that you could put that down.. its all relevant

Csu

Hey all just some quick questions regarding CSU
I would like to goto CSU and do the B IT & Business. i was wondering if anyone is doing that course and how they feel about it?
I plan to stay on campus, so if i say stay in the towers as they sound like the place to be, do you have internet access that is fast? "not dialup!!!!?" also is it a wireless/hotspot ADSL area anywhere on campus?
Umm thats all i can think of atm lol.. ill be back later though im sure lol :D

They have Crim Justice which ultimatley it criminology -- exellent if thats the path you want to take. They have policing studies too, however thats pretty much just for state police.

The people who do crim jus seem to enjoy it, but I don't know how relivant the actual course is

I have to say something just for the benefit of year 12 students thinking of attending CSU-Bathurst in 2006.

I have heard the failure rate of people who live on-campus (especially in towers and JOV) is much higher than the rest of the campus. You have to realise that every subject you do costs more than $600 (and that is due to rise at CSU next year) and if you fail a subject(s), you still have it added to your HECS debt.

Oh and the uni doesn't accept the excuse of 'I lived in towers of JOV' if you do fail.

If you know that you're unable to handle yourself socially (i.e. social and academic life) simply don't apply for on-campus accommodation. If you fail the whole year and end up on probation, you will only have yourself to blame.

I don't want to sound like a 'party-pooper', but this is just a fact. If you're going to get drunk every night, there is no use even going to uni.

yes dad...

ive lived in towers for 3 years now with a distinction average and a GPA of 5.5 (out of 7). living in towers has actually made me go to class.... its only a short walk to classes (as opposed to up to a 40minute walk), i dont have to pay bills or go grocery shopping and therefore dont need to worry about budgeting for any of that stuff, i have 30 dormies to hang out with rather than 1 or 2 housemates that i may not get along with... THEREFORE im able to spend more time doing assignments and getting stuff done. and i dont lock myself in my room 24/7.. last week i was out 3 nights in a row..

So if you want to live on campus and get through your course alive... just learn to balance your time... work in the day, party all night and crash on the weekends!
