CSU - No Work, All Play? (Current CSU Students please read and respond) (1 Viewer)

Howdy there folks,

Now I've heard wonderful things about CSU from practically everyone thus far, and I am soundly convinced that the course which I'm interested in at the University is the right one for me. However, recently I've had someone inform me that the University is more of a party/"play" house (ie. a place where becoming drunk and 'other' activities are prioritised) rather than a centre for learning.

Specifically they've labelled the Media Courses (Television Production, etc) as being filled with individuals with Gothic Tendencies and Satanic Beliefs. Now let me make it clearly known that I don't have a problem with diversity in belief, and I believe in everyone's right to believe whatever they want to believe, however, (a) is what this person is saying true and (b) if so, how bad is it?

Feel free to label what I've written above as absolute rubbish because, in all honesty, I have no idea (thus why I'm asking you all ).

CSU is fan-bloody-tastic. I love it. Its got the light hearted party side which u need during uni to make it not so stressful but everyone is there to get their degrees. You usually find the people that are just there to party drop out in the first semister (and in my course for some reason most people dropped out before first semister). The goths are cool and there arnt that many of them at Wagga. Is that where your thinknig of going???

You find that with idiots all over the place. CSU is a lot of fun but people do actually study there too. Its more or less the style of the place that some people think makes it a hub for bludgers, which it isn't.

Naw, just yesterday I read a textbook! That takes it to around 99% play, 1% work. That's an improvement, at least.

Yay! Im applying for CSU Bathurst for uni next year. I'm heaps excited. I've heard nothing but the best about the uni!
Does anyone do B Education (Primary)/B Social Science (Psychology) ??? I'm interested in knowing more about it.

pfft, i live at south, and i am no goth, lol.

Lol, now i have that off my chest, CSU is a really good place to study. There is the extremes, like those who never stop partying, or those that never leave their room, but these are a minority, majority of the people are there to get their degrees, and are able to balance their social life and studying.

what a load of .... I know a few "emos" on South but there is not that many. god damn it. I live at South and certainly am not Goth and don't even know any that live here.

If you are thinking the TV Production course (I am an Actor so socialise with Proddies a fair bit) then I can say that they like to have a few drinks and relax sure. But that course (much like mine) requires a certain level of dedication and anyone who is more interested in partying won't last a semester, let alone a degree. So don't fret over the social side of this Uni.

This made me lol so bad.

All the media students I've ever met have been raging goths.
CSU is a catalyst for alcoholism.

It's a pretty awesome uni. Laid back. Most of the lecturers are cool, upside of being a smaller uni is the student:teacher ratio.
