find the integral from 1 to 3 of (x + 1/x)^2 dx

help please

try expanding (x+1/x)^2 out to mkae it simpler.

=(x^2 + 2 + 1/x^2)

therefore your integral would be

=[x^3/3 + 2x -1/x] between 3 and 1

= 14 and 2/3 - 2
= 12 and 2/3


sorry its a bit hard to display on computer

∫ [From 1 to 3] (x + 1/x)2 dx = 14 - 2/3
