it's sad. they even take little children there...who don't even know what is happening around them...they are so caught up in throwing rocks at the so called devils, that they don't consider the safety of the people around them...don't they have any humanity? imo, i consider this nothing but stupidity, not to mention, a sign of highly uneducated people, even so, a person would feel this, that it is completely illogical.

Look, when you say things about the Hajj like it being sad... i know you're a bit confused by the fact that people take their children there too, and the symbolism of stoning the Devil (there is only one "so- called" Devil), it may seem illogical to you, but it's a really inappropriate comment when you do not know that much about it... to say things like "highly uneducated people" when you're even more so totally unaware of the preparation that Muslims undertake before completing Hajj, or the measures that the Saudi government takes to ensure safety... it's really not THAT simple.

well, it isnt that action alone that clears your sins. it is the whole thing from staying on the mountain of arafat to the stoning. from what i remember it is a thing that is over in 4/5 days, to answer PwarYutex, so they have to stone that pillar in the span of one day, but many people want to get it over and done with, hence the large crowds. when i went to stone the pillar we went at night, and it was considerably less congestion. in fact, i didnt have to rub shoulders with anyone while i was there.

back to you sasha, the stoning isnt at the wall, it is at a pillar, which is meant to be like us re-enacting when prophet ibrahim stoned the devil in those three places because he had tried to convince ibrahim not to slaughter his son, as he had been ordered in his dream. so satan isnt actually inside the pillar (theres 3 btw, a big one, a medium one and a small one), it is a symbolic action.

and no amount of enforcement can stop a group of 100,000 or so from taking a step or two each, because if they try to stop the ones at the beginning, it will be like a human enactment of a car when it hits a wall: the front crumples from the force behind it.

... the Saudi Arabian government consistently reviews how Hajj is conducted- pilgrims obviously don't attend now the same way they did maybe in the 1940s or 1950s. For the stoning of the Devil stage in question- they're considering extending the time that you can do it in- that's what i've heard anyway. Like veterandoggy said... there are three sections of the pillar, which they might extend as well.

not many stuff work perfectly first go, that is why they constantly undergo upgrades. that area used to be a one level, two way area, and it has slowly improved to become a two floor one way passage, and i think the saudi government is also considering another floor.
