Hi All
I am about begin a Diploma of Laws at CDU in July...just wondering if anyone else has completed it?
Not sure if I have chosen the right degree...I want to get into advocacy.
Advice welcome!
Will need to study further and do a Bachelor of Laws along with that, gain admission into the Supreme Court of your local jurisdiction and become a Solicitor (you will also need a Practising Certificate and Indemnity Insurance if you wish to practise as a Solicitor). Non practicing legal professionals can appear on behalf of their firms clients, however, must seek leave from the Court (this is a simple process of just seeking leave from the judge verbally...)
Advocacy is a waste, better off using the Dip of Law gain a couple of years as a Paralegal, get qualifications in the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution, and finding something good in the field of Mediation or other forms of ADR...
Law degrees are a waste of time, effort and money...
