"Discuss" in economics (1 Viewer)

Our teacher is adamant that a question that starts with 'discuss', even a 4 marker, means talking about short and long term effects

this isnt mentioned anywhere on the board of studies syllabuses or list of key terms etc.

dont need to do this for any other subject either.

it really pisses me off coz we get penalised for not talking about short and long term, and i keep forgetting to do it in the exam...

will we need to do this for the HSC or is it just my teacher?

personally if a question says discuss i'll provide an issue for and against, usually there will be a negative for the short term (j curve) and then it will be better in the long term, it may not be official but that's a good way to phrase your answer.

yeh thats what discuss means - for and against basically

but a point for, and a point against dont always have specific short/long termness.... if u get me....

like we specifically have to talk about short and long term stuff.. frustrating to say the least....

yeah, basically discuss means to show both sides of an argument both for and against, and also include some sort of evaluation

discuss means identify relevant issues and provide argument for and against these issues.

but if your teacher is setting the standard then there's no pt arguing your case, it goes the same for everyone
