I think you should memorise how to derive them, like using a trig sub etc.

No, you’re not expected to recall integral results outside your formula sheet without working. Just familiarise yourself with them.

Fair - cos we have this whole exercise in cambridge which instructs us to memorise the form so that we can apply it straight away instead of using trig sub
