For the HSC Papers in General Maths do we need to know the prelim course as well as the whole HSC Course?

30% of preliminary content will be in the HSC, therefore you would need to know that '30%' for the General Maths HSC exam.

meh, i wouldnt worry about prelim general maths
if you make it thru hsc general maths without too many hiccups, by the time you get to the exam it'll be irrelevent

and actually, they cannot examine you on anything you learnt in prelim in the hsc exam. it's 'assumed knowledge' as such, and thus you will not be asked questions directly relating to stuff you did in prelim

im not sure where that info came from, but in the HSC syllabus for gen. math it says that up to 30% of the prelim. course can be examined in the HSC exams.

having said that, its pretty basic stuff so you dont need to stress too much over it.

the best way, imo, to study for maths is to do past papers. i did one every 2 days for like 2 weeks. they are good for revision if you go back and mark them and fix up where you screwed up, or get your teacher to mark them - thats what they are for after all!

I agree with Razizi

your HSC paper can hold up to 30%of preliminay content, hense why our teachers wouldnt let us return our year eleven text books.

dont disregard it, but dont focus on it. find a balance.
as cliche as it sounds.

Good Luck

I do believe there is some information that would be in the HSC external Exam. BUT i don't think the percentage would be as high as 30%, and plus if you think of it like this, you would learn the main points to the HSC syllabus in Prelim and build on that information in year 12. So it would not be able to be such a high percentage?
