Although I can't say I know much about Christianity or any other religion, I found this talk by Neil Degrasse Tyson quite interesting. It talks about how humans, even geniuses like Galileo and Newton, invoke Intelligent Design or turn to religion when they are confronted with concepts they don't understand.

I'm curious as to whether people have objectively considered the reasons for their particular faith or whether they simply adhere to the religious beliefs of their parents.

lol i meant to click protestantism. I wouldn't consider myself a full blown creationist believing christian, but more so of a cultural christian - in that i recognise the importance of Christianity as a tradition, one that has contributed significantly to western society.
