All of the above have blood and or guys involved. Even neurology: neuroimmunology, crap loads of blood tests but if your lazy, too busy, etc you can get ur nurse or refer them to a path lab to get them done.

Anaesthesia: you have to watch the surgery and see blood go round and round the by-pass maching.

Epidemiology: contract tracing - swine flue.

Radiology/Nuclear med: all contrast procedures are physician only, also there are some new stenting procedures done by radiologists now.

Medical Administration (yes it is a doctor only speciality, yes those gutless bastards from admin you hear about are Doctors!!!): you have to do inspections, take responsibility for NSW:Health screw ups visit patients, apologise when things go wrong, etc.

Pallative care: lol, blood and guts all over + dealing with angry relatives starting their 7 stages of grieving.

Psychiatry: ice addicts, crap loads of people with munchausen syndrome, etc. You also have to give them a consult and see the damage when they hurt themselves...
Yeah so basically the point that needs to be stressed is that if you can't handle blood or guts, don't do medicine.

Even regardless of what specialty he does, he's going to do blood and guts sometime during his 6 years of study at uni, and then more than likely during residency or whatever it is you guys do.

Sorry bud, I don't think medicine is for you.

Even if you manage to find a specialization which doesn't involve blood you're going to have to deal with corpses and dissections when you're a med student.

IMO don't do med.
