Essentially, you can achieve a high ATAR with any subject combination. In your particular case, your final subject combination will depend on your ATAR goal. Students who took Information and Digital Technology or Hospitality were able to achieve high ATARs. Looking at ATAR data from previous years:
Year | Maximum ATAR (Information and Digital Technology) | Maximum ATAR (Hospitality) |
---|
2023 | 96.90 | 99.15 |
2022 | 95.10 | 97.75 |
2021 | 98.00 | 99.55 |
Notice that the highest ATAR for both subjects across those three years is greater than 95, indicating the possibility of you achieving a high ATAR with those two subjects. Of course, maximising your results in both subjects and by extension, your ATAR, requires favourable performance in both subjects (in addition to the rest of your subjects). The ideal position would involve you being ranked as high as possible within your cohort (if applicable) to ensure the highest possible Assessment Mark (being ranked first is optimal), as well as doing your utmost to thoroughly prepare for the HSC exam of these subjects, resulting in favourable Examination Marks and ultimately greater contributions to your ATAR resulting from maximised overall HSC marks.
If there are areas of improvement at this stage, it is definitely a good idea to start early by using use the holiday period to work on addressing them, as well as potentially getting ahead in terms of content.
I hope this helps!
