Only 2 questions left and I'm lost. Any help would be appreciated (dont worry bout detail - 1-2 lines only).

1. What is the difference between air masses formed over Central Australia to that which forms over the Southern Ocean?
2. Explain the factors that contribute to heat waves experienced in Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide.

Orographic lift occurs when an air mass is forced from a low elevation to a higher elevation as it moves over rising terrain. As the air mass gains altitude it quickly cools down adiabatically, which can raise the relative humidity to 100% and create clouds and, under the right conditions, precipitation.

The Great Dividing Range of Eastern and South Eastern Australia forces uplift of moist air originating from the ocean to the east.

The regions where air masses form are referred to as air mass source regions. If air remains over a source region long enough, it will acquire the properties of the surface below. Ideal source regions are regions that are generally flat and of uniform composition. Examples include central Canada, Siberia, the northern and southern oceans and large deserts.

As for heat generation in cities; idrk, but check out this, it seems legit :) >>> http://theconversation.com/whats-causing-australias-heat-wave-11628

Hope thisss Helps x
