as a rule I generally don't agree with anything chromatic says, but I'd have to agree to the thread title. still, LOL @ the people assuming duckcow and iSplicer are chinese.

I envy you chromatic, you didn't do high scaling subjects except for economics, adv english, ipt and sdd, no sciences and you still get in the 90's.
Its not about what subjects you do, but how well you do in them. I lol at the people who did 4 unit math and/or 4 unit english who I STILL managed to beat!

By the way, IPT and SDD do NOT scale well either! (;

Omgad gaise, the assumptions on this thread are very lal.

I didn't get a 'high' 99 but I still scraped it, and yes, I was on FB throughout exams and still went to three 18ths that were conveniently scheduled two weeks before the exams (and partook in the consumption of intoxicating substances...) and I also worked, even through exams. You just have to be smart about how you study and know your cram limits. Yeah of course I did do lots of work throughout the year and I'm sure everyone who gets 95+ does, but that doesn't mean they are a social failure or must develop a vitamin D deficiency... everything in moderation! In fact at my school, lots the higher atars seemed to correspond with people who did lots of extra-curricula stuff.

Um, I don't even remember what OP's post was about, but the point is... you can keep gaming and keep fbing as long as you can control yourself and as long as you know how long it takes you to complete things to a high standard.

some people cannot, or, don't know when to stop, so they stop all together, only to find out they can't do without their games and fb 2 weeks later.

Yeah I know what you mean. I guess it's just about experimenting in the beginning. But... if you really do want to get good marks, and you know that you are a person who does need to put a lot of time into study, you can't just "not know when to stop". You know when you should stop, but you make a choice to continue. I don't think you can blame "not knowing". Everyone has to make these choices. I know it's hard, and yeah I know certain people get addicted (say to gaming or to fb) more than others, but if you're a person like that... that's when having more of a timetable schedule thing works really well.

+ Of course anyone can live without fb. It's not oxygen. I find it's inconvenient not to have one (I deactivated for 2 months in the beginning) because things always get organised on fb and it's hard to arrange things without it, but it can be done.

Meh, just figure out what works for you.

I don't have a facebook account, and I never have. Of course it can be done. I've never had the inclination to know what EVERYONE is doing ALL the time...

In regards to the thread here is what it takes to get an 80 (well it was how I got an 80):

-Don't study at all until a week/few days before the exams
-Facebook everyday and be angry at yourself for doing so
-Reaching the cracking point and not giving a fuck and just play video games
-jigging classes you don't like
-being late to school

So if all you need is an 80, well there you have it.

note:

I stressed out a lot though.

honestly if your Economics and Accouting were in the high 80s your ATAR could of been a lot better. what do you plan to do at uni? did you make it?

Aha Time table schedules would never work for me, I don't need them. I do everything fast and have good memory. : D
