Do these books contain similar questions as HSC questions or are many of them irrelevant like the ones in textbooks? I also remember seeing two types, what is the difference? I was just wondering because I wanted to practice for my half yearlies without using trial past papers just yet. And I am also planning to get the physics one.

In my experience the questions weren't that great. If you want practise for half yearlies the best option is trial papers. I can't see why you would want to avoid them as yet. The quicker you get into them the better!

The questions are generally good for retaining newly learnt material; past papers are the way to go to prepare yourself for exams.

Past papers > dot point questions anyday

Dot Point questions are really artificial and contrived
