Hi everyone, so basically Im doing ext 1 yr 11 at Dr Du right now. Im in a1 and find it great however the price is just too overwhelmingo_O. I'm planning on picking up ext 2 in the future and I'm pretty sure the tuition fee is too much if I do Du. I heard about Ngo and Sons and people say it is good, Should I switch? Will I be able to catch up if I join this late? Do you guys suggest any other math tutoring places? Should be around Burwood, Strathfield or somewhere not too far as I wish to attend f2f.

definately. Ngo and Sons is great (as long as u get into decent classes- ie : acceleration/spec) (although note, du>ngo and sons overall, but doesn't mean its terrible)

Is it too late for me to get into those specialist/accelerated classes? Technically I'm almost yr 12 now TT. Also, Do you go to both tutoring places? How're you finding Ngos and Sons note/hw/test compare to Du

So I was not allowed to do accelerated classes as I accelerate in school for ngo (ik hella dumb). I did go to both, but did not rlly enjoy ngo and sons as much as I liked du. Only issue I had was that the topics were done so randomly. Ie: some students have even started 3U vectors without even doing differentiation yet 💀 Personal anecdote from me: We did integration of logs before we've even done curve sketching using diff. To answer your question though, yes, I believe you can still get into acc and spec classes. Homework is completely different to du hw format wise. Qns kinda vary tbh sometimes too easy, sometimes qns are aight.

NOTE: I WAS IN ADV CLASS SO IT MIGHT BE DIFFERENT TO THE EXPERIENCE IN SPEC/Acc

On the other hand tho, I'll be 3 units less stressed by that time so I'll be alr to go back to f2f (my parents are still tryna convince me to go back, but the amount of assignments I got this term was honestly horrendous. Good thing next term is that I only got 1 assignment next term so fingers crossed I'll be able to make it out of the term doing f2f alr)

I really like Du but the price skyrocketed in yr 12 for no reason. Guess I will do the entrance test for NGO to see which class I get in.

closest to this area is ngo parra
if you could travel the extra 20 mins from strathfield you could try kurt in epping if you can handle detentions and stuff (pretty cheap in comparison iirc; can't remember exact costs)
Kurt has no website or smt like that, I have no idea how to contact them. kinda curious about them tho

hey, I just switched from du to ngo recently. both centres give good questions, but, ngo and sons has these hard challenge questions which probably make them harder than du. i have had dr truong and miss anna, and the biggest difference is that they analyse the heck out of a question and teach you the technique. i was in a1 at du and as you know, you're just mainly there for social purposes. its pretty noisy, but in my opinion dr du and his son aren't really good at teaching. i like how du have quizzes, but the exams at ngo are much harder. also, my friend is in mr mai's class and i heard he is the goat :D

Yeah a lot of my mates have moved to Truongs from Du. Had both and I can say Dr Truong is far better at teaching. Tbh Du is all hype, you don't learn much, just get given a bunch of questions. Dr. Truong is really good at teaching techniques.

if you're really in year 9 it wouldn't matter as:
a) i'm 90% sure kurt doesn't allow you to accelerate (or just really dislikes it)
b) as such you wouldn't be allowed into the 4u class
I'm not ready for 4u yet. 3u is ok. Can I accelerate in y11?
