i think they look really good on some guys as long as they're short and sort of thin - not the thick long ones.

but i remember on tv ages ago some guy was getting his dreads cut off and they had little insects in them and they were all mouldy and shit. so don't keep them for too long cos that would be yuck.

Can people with dreadlocks wash their hair?

I was talking to a dreaded person a couple of years back, and he was saying that you still wash/condition it, as if it were 'normal' hair, the only thing you don't do is comb/brush/style it.

I think dreadlocks look terrible.... I have only ever seen one guy with long dreadlocked hair and he was hot. This was at uni.

yeah they have to be maintained well to be hot.

Its weird coz to get dreadies done professionally isnt cheap (a few hundred bucks) but still alot of ppl maintain the fact that ppl w/ dreadies are poor/homeless bums on the street

i had dreadlocks for 2 years. i cut them off about a year ago and i still miss them.

i decided i just want long normal hair.

wrong wrong wrong.

just like normal hair......dreadlocks only smell if people don't wash them.

normal hair gets smelley if people don't wash it.

even some people with dreads don't know much about how to look after them.

for instance you can't use normal shampoos. and using conditioner is a big no no no. conditioners make the hair oily due to residues and dreads fall apart. normal shampoos have fragrances and other chemicals in them that don't come out of dreads and remain in them causing mould or oils that make the dreads come apart. thats why a lot of people have ratty or smelley dreads.

you're supposed to use shampoo that has no fragrances or residues.

i couldn't be bothered addressing all the other ridiculous posts.
