hi, so right now i'm in not in a good mental state (i'm sure some of you have experienced this as well), and i was just wondering if anyone knows from experience or if someone's friend has done the same.

my subjects are:
  • engineering studies
  • ipt
  • standard english
  • studies of religion 1-unit
  • general maths
  • senior science
i was wondering if i were to drop out and come back to do the hsc in 2013, would i be able to change my subjects?
(dropping engineering studies, picking up studies of religion 2-unit, with a total of 10 units).

thanks,

– rohan

I know how you feel man. I wouldn't say I'm not 100% mental state but there is a lot of stuff going in my life and I'm just pushing through. I don't know how it is on your level obviously though; I havn't seen my mum for two years, if that tells you something. If you ever want to talk just PM me. As for the switch, not sure but I would imagine you would be allowed. I'm doing two unit and the one unit kids use the same textbook, we just go over more stuff. You would be able to drop engineering though. Stay strong brah.

Yeah, I dropped out due to my mental state throughout my HSC year. I'm currently doing my HSC at TAFE; you're required the same amount of units (10) and you have a good selection of subjects to re-select. So yeah, you would be able to do SOR 2 unit. I never did it before and I'm studying SOR 2 unit right now, it's amazing!! There's also great flexibility as you can do 2 year (or more) HSC rather than 1 intensive year with all 10 units, I'm currently doing 2 year, so that means 3 subjects this year I'll sit the HSC for and next year 2 subjects. Within the course, you'll also re-do preliminary -It's not as bad as it sounds haha- as they place prelim within the HSC course. So yeah, before 2013 just think what subjects you'd like to take up and later in the year find out the enrolment/info days for the HSC course by calling them or in person.

Take care of yourself and I hope you feel better soon c:

-extra info-
-Different locations provide different selection of subjects and may/or not be on the time you prefer throughout the day
-If you think you can make it to the end of this year and finish your HSC it's worth it. Keep hanging. If you don't get the desired mark then you still have time to enrol for 2013

HSC IS hard, but remember you have teachers to help you learn your stuff. Also, try forming a study group or getting a tutor.
Hang in there.
