Eco vs Accounting? (1 Viewer)

Im contemplating between the two subjects. Im planning to pick a finance double degree at macq but im not sure if I should be doing accounting finance, or eco finance? Im not excellent at eco got 82 and uni eco must be alot harder, but my uncle told me that eco and finance would be more rewarding in the banking sector? Whats more ideal in ur eyes in terms of employment opportunities?

I feel pure Economics is much more specialised/niche nowadays and isn't as universally appreciated across industries. That being said, in some specific roles within banking, econonics/finance would do very well and be much more highly regarded than the common combination of accounting/finance... but for the most part, accounting/finance is a popular combination for a good reason.

On a side note, uni level economics isn't so much about being a 'harder' version of what you did in high school but it's totally different in what the content is and how it is taught. High school economics was very much rote learning definitions, drawing some graphs, and relating statistics to a prepared case study whereas university level is far more complex and requiring mathematics/equations/analysis. It's an entirely different skillset.

In my limited experience (i.e. doing the cores and having a perusal of the second year subject content), economics at university level is very quantitative compared to high school. That is, there's alot of formulas/numbers/etc.
