look each technique is there for a specific reason and the composer of the text wants the responder to feel, think or do a certain thing. Say u read a sad story and you felt sadness or pain. The technique used is emotive language and it effected u as a responder as it made u empathize. Do u get it now?

Effect on the responder basically means anything that composers use wheather its a language or visual feature that can have an impact on the responder in some way. Say u were listening to an interview and the the interviwer asks OPEN ENDED QUESTIONS to the person being interviwed then this is a tachnique that is used to effect the responder simply by keeping them engaged and interested in listening to the interview. hope that helped:)

If u need more examples, just ask. BTW i have a list of techniques that u can look out for in many types of text and i can briefly tell u why each one is used and how it can effect the responder. Good luck
