The main thing is to speak clearly and not too fast.

don't be "that guy" and break down crying while standing in front of everyone, or the person that stutters constantly and can't maintain eye contact.

I'm "that guy" Sure, it leads me to getting crappy marks (60-70% for speeches), but meh, I'm shy, and I can live with that.

Although, I have a trick I'll continue to use since my last speech (if it's appropriate).
I started using overheads with comic-like drawings I made on them. Of course, they're related to the speech, but it distracts everyone making it easier on me, and it got me a few extra marks.
