HI i have got a seach due next week. and we have to do two Peter Skrzynecki poems and one related text ( mine is bend it like backham)
The statement/ question is "the concept of belonging is more complex than it first appears."

Can some one help me with this?? eg what poems would be best ( 10 mary street ect) and how to relate bend it like beckham.

you can really make any of them work, its called making bullshit up :)
get lots of help off your teacher... sometimes different teachers want different stuff in speeches, essays etc.

Interesting statement to work out from. It lends itself very well to an out of the ordinary thesis e.g. belonging can never truly be understood. Be sure to talk about binary oppositions i.e. inclusion/exclusion as that will help you drive the argument home; there is more to belonging than just inclusion/acceptance.

Bend It Like Beckham is film which deals with the idea of assimilating into a new culture right? (my details of the film are sketchy) If so, I'd go for Migrant Hostel and another one, perhaps 10 Mary Street. You can talk about the positives of inclusion for 10 Mary Street and the film and the negatives of exclusion of Migrant Hostel and the film.

Just a thought:
To consider belonging one must first consider not belonging and the consequences this entails.

yeh thanks that is good. But dno about 10 mary. im leaning toward st' Patricks college. I think that relates to not wanting to belong to the school, although his mother does to move higher up in society. ect
