No...considering you can get a Custom that been slipped out the back door of the factory on Ebay for about the same price.

You don't really need an Epiphone as a begginer. They are good guitars and resemble Gibsons but are quite expensive but not as much as a Gibson. You may want to consider an Ibanez or other low end ones.

I've been playing for the past 6yrs, and i have an Ibanez GSA60 with a Marshall MG15DFX. Soon lost interest and haven't been playing anymore.

Good choice man, specials are really bad and the bolt on necks suck. The set necks give Les Pauls the sustain that they are famous for!... I recently bought a Les Paul standard plus top and im really happy with it. :uhhuh:

for the money you wanna spend, i would not recommend epiphone, despite how cool they might look

if you are a beginner, i firmly believe there is no better starting guitar than a Made in Mexico fender stratocaster. Check em out. I got mine for 300 usd and it was awesome
