When writing half equations do the arrows go in both directions or only in one?

My teacher taught us that it goes in both directions and that how some of the textbooks showed it. But when looking at HSC sample answers the arrow only goes in one direction :s

SUPER CONFUSED :(

How do you know whether the arrow goes in both directions or just in one way?

Thanks

For particular questions, half equations should only be written in a single direction, the reason why half equations are written with double arrows in the HSC reduction potential table is because of the possibility of species to be reduced or oxidised, but when you are doing a specific question, you need to calculate which species is oxidised and reduced-and you need to decide which equation and WHICH DIRECTION you are using the equation, and hence, only single direction is accepted. Hope this helps to clarify some confusion:)
