Can you start your essay off (first body para) with your related text? Or do you go prescribed first?

Prescribed first. Nothing else to it.

probably best to go with your prescribed first ie:

Thesis 1
Shown in text 1
Shown in text 2

Thesis 2
Shown in text 1
Shown in text 2

etc

If you are using 3 related texts (I have 3 that I will pick/choose depending on the question) just vary the text two to text three to suit.

you could but it just feels more right to do prescribed first. if that made sense LOL
