should i be worried i haven't applied yet?
i was going to wait until my uai ccomes back...
If you apply before the 17th of January, you are guaranteed a place if you are a first year undergraduate living outside Canberra.

However, you may not get your first choice.

try and think of all the little things you might forget but realise you may need, i.e. blue-tack, thumb tacks, tea towels, laundry stuff, extension cords/leads are a must as there are usually a lack of powerpoints and the ones that are there are in crap places, etc (the more stuff you bring, the less money you have to fork out later).

maybe a mircowave and bar fridge (though I hear the uni accomodation doesn't like people using them in their rooms.
the uni accomodation generally don't like you having stuff like toasters, heaters and microwaves cos it tends to overload the system and short curcuit stuff.

Yeah, because the union shops are a bit pricey aren't they?

eh, yeah, but I'll settle for somelamename's, not fussed.
So is someone going to give me the low down on accommo, or am I going to have to trawl through the ANU site myself? It doesn't like me, must have formed a coalition with neo.

well this is going to be general and cliched, but hey!

college life is what you make of it. being sociable helps a lot. it's nice to keep to yourself sometimes, but it can get very lonely after a while. if you expect college to be a lot of fun, then chances are it will be. on the other hand, if you expect it to be crap, then it will be. get into college life as much or as little as you want though... get a good balance.

summer in canberra is warm. bring fans. winter in canberra is cold. bring jackets, beanies and etc.

rooms at college aren't all that big, but they do me just fine. make sure to bring posters, calendars, photos, bright things cos it's much nicer to have pretty stuff on your walls instead of them bare

i'll think of more... :p

Is that allowing for spending money socialising (beer, movie etc whatever) or is that the money left to socialise with?

You're assured to get in as a 1st year, because you're out of region, but otherwise I don't think so. If that were the case, everyone would be at ANU. :p
