If I were rich and didn't have to work, I would just travel the world and learn languages. I guess that says something about what I'm interested in. So as much as I'd love to study languages and be a linguist/translater/interpreter, I don't know if I'd ever be as fluent in another language as I am in English. Plus there aren't too many things you can do with languages and no other specialised training... maybe I'll be a language teacher.

I'd like to be a news journalist (any genre, though preferably print).... and then move in to a role doing cultural journalism (like food/film reviews) and feature writing... particularly some travel writing. Then maybe one day I would like to own my own small business.... maybe when I get too old to be doing the journo thing... and then I can write my memoir lol.

I'd also like to dabble in politics at some stage.

Remote Area Nurse/Midwife is pretty much what I want to do, however I'd love to get into the Aerial Medical Services in the Top End, or a disaster Nurse.

At the end of the day, what I really want, more than anything in the world is to be a mum

Not that I would try to discourage you or anything, because the world needs more, but a realistic expectation is important- my mother works as a midwife, and she often comments on the number of girls that go all the way through uni only to quit because they didn't realise what nursing is really like.

Alot will drop out after first Prac, because they don't like it. It's a bit stupid because 1st Prac does not reflect what Nursing is really like.

With Midwifery, if you work under the dept of health (by that, I mean for a local area health service in a hospital, or remote area nurses) as opposed to private practice, then you tend to bypass most of the legal crap as the Hospital is ultimatly the one who answers of public liability. Private practice doesn't have that bonus.

I am currently in first year, but I am planning on applying for the enrolled nurses program and then coming back to Uni after that 12 months as it gives me a true indication of what I'm getting myself into, exellent grounding in the field and guarenteed work.

Certainly do your research, because you need to be the right sort of person to enjoy and be good at nursing and I'd recommed the Enrolled 12 Month program before jumping straight into Uni. It will let you see whats what and gives you a great starting base and will generally put you ahead of 2nd years. Look at the Uni you plan on going to, as many will not give you credit for a full year - science subjects will usually still need to be taken - and do them by distance when doing the enrolled training.

Just as a side note, CSU Wagga is the only uni in the state to offer Nursing/Midwifery double degree, or Midwifery as an undergrad course. 4th is pretty much all prac. What University were you think of going to, and any paticular area of nursing (apart from midwifery) that you'd like to get into?

A lot of ppl who do economics as a subject wanna be an economist (me included), the problem is demand doesn't match the supply, so they'll have to think of something else. I wanna be project manager, valuer, construction supervisor, Property economist, or Quantative surveyor
