Excessive ATAR: Useless? (1 Viewer)

Quick Facts:
1) Unless I mess up hard in trials or HSC exam, I am headed for an ATAR above 95. Probably in the range of 95-97
2) None of the courses I am interested in require above 92 (Guaranteed Entry)

So, what can I do with these unnecessary expected ATAR points? Will they advantage me in applying for cadetships/scholarships?
From what I've heard, a high ATAR under 99.50 is simply a shortcut to uni courses and becomes useless after a year. That leaves little incentive to waste my time going up another few ranks.

Tbh I don't think getting an "excessive ATAR" (whatever that may subjectively mean) is useless. The point of getting the highest ATAR that you can is to maximise your choice of degrees. Don't quote me on this, but I think ATARs still play a role after Year 12 if you want to do a transfer. Hence, it would be for your interest to get the best possible mark.
