okay.. is it just me or has anyone else been totally spooked by the exemplar responses? I know they're supposed to be exemplar, but do we seriously have to write like that to get top marks? i'm referring in particular to the hamlet/rosnguild one...

"altering the original form, in r&g, removal of hamlet's soliloquies eliminates the rational reasonging for his behavior. His sarcastic witticisms are recontextualised, juxtaposed with 29th century idioms. Elizabethan language sounds pretentious..."

It shows sophistication
not only does your content have to be relevant and top notch, your language skill must be of equal calibre

ive read that entire essay and it was good but at the same time it didnt deserve full marks because there was such a high level of verbosity (pretentious intellectualising with big words)

i give it a 17/20

I read through one of the exemplar responses and found some grammar mistakes and "and" was written as "&" all through it

didn't seem very "exemplar" to me ...or I'm just being overly picky

the girl who wrote that exemplar RnG/Hamlet one went to my school.. had same teacher as well..

claim to fame..

its true tho a lot of the exemplar ones arent that great, like in modern history..

and the people writing these arent necessarily the best at the subject, just regugitated wat their teacher told them to write.

do we lose marks for using & iinstead of "and" in our essays?
and of course all the exemplary responses aren't perfect. these things are written in 40 minutes. it can still be a great essay, even if it has a few flaws. remember the context of the esay.

Considering there is at least one student who abbreviated "and" to "&" and still managed to obtain full marks, I think it's safe to conclude that you won't be marked down for it...

i doubt u will 'losr marks' as such, but if ur essay is bad it's not going to impress the marker, even if ur essay is good it won't impress the marker

in the eng ext i think it was E3/4 cutoff someone used &
i would not do it though
