The advanced version is just the online version with a few extra features added.

You can access it via the LazSeeker website.

Maths Ext1 (3UA) had two pivot marks, at 80 and 100.
Maths Ext1 (4UC) had a pivot mark somewhere below 86.4
Maths Ext2 (4UA) had a pivot mark significantly below 78.

I don't have enough statistics to work out those last two exactly.

interesting.........I would think its harder to come in the top 9% for Advanced English compared to top 1% of standard

I work most of them out myself, heh.

I created graphs that show how each course was scaled in 2001... that way, you can simply look at where lines intersect to see pivot marks etc. I might upload them to the site.

You can view them at the following address -

http://lazseekeronline.cjb.net/splines/

The x-axis is the percentile at which a certain mark would have placed the student, and the y-axis is the mark between 0 and 50 (on a 1-unit basis).

The red line represents HSC marks and the yellow line represents scaled marks.

The graphs may be inaccurate in the 0 to 25 percentile range as there are no statistics available relating to the bottom 25% of the state - the program I used to generate them 'guessed' at where the curves would be in that range.

Out of all the marks I have, the following student did the most courses in common with yours, beebeez:

Units | Course | Exam | Assess | HSC | Band

2 Business Studies 89/100 91/100 90 6
2 Economics 91/100 89/100 90 6
2 English (Advanced) 80/100 77/100 79 4
2 Legal Studies 69/100 74/100 72 4
2 Mathematics Extension 1 91/100 93/100 92 E4
2 Mathematics Extension 2 83/100 82/100 83 3 E3

UAI 96.35
(legal studies was not counted)

You can see what UAI different combinations of marks might give you by using the LazSeeker program on the main Bored of Studies website.

If by 'position' you mean assessment ranking, that is only used to turn your raw assessment mark into a moderated assessment mark. That moderated assessment mark is averaged with your aligned exam mark to give the HSC mark (which is what you enter into LazSeeker).

No other position is used.

wat? another Big Willy?

anyway, u cant get 50 (25/50 in 1U terms) for 4U beebeez!, coz if i remember correctly, i tried putting a low mark in for it and it came up with "Mark too low, using minimum mark of 75" or something

That doesn't mean that it's impossible to get that mark - it simply means that such a mark would have placed you in the bottom 25% of the state in 2001. It says 'mark too low' because there aren't any statistics relating to that percentile range, and thus any attempt at scaling would be horribly inaccurate.

you wouldn't have come last in our grade last year.

Our school had the top 4U student in the state, so our teachers tried to make really tough Q's in there, but they were still nothing to him.

does anyone know why integration and conics is so easy for me yet i still haven't got anything in complex numbers and polynomials which we did first?

and i'd just like to announce that i am going to come TOP of my class this year!

and i'd also like to announce that u all have to forget that i am the only one in my class!
