Can someone explain to me how the extensions work? (in both yr11 and yr12)

You basically go to the hairdresser and ask him or her for an extension and you wait for like an hour and you get your result. Sometimes it won't run due to low hair numbers but most of the time it does. A lot of people with Asian backgrounds do it. They have a lot of success with extension.

hahaha this thread has the best responses i've seen!

HSC extensions work quite simply.

In year 11 the only two extensions that run are English Extension 1 and Mathematics Extension 1 - They're 1 unit courses meaning that you have half as much class time as all your other subjects and more often than not, double the work, they're also an extra unit on top of your 12 compulsory units for year 11 (unless you choose to take 10 units in 2unit subjects and both English and Maths Ext) Sometimes, these classes won't run if there's only one or two people interested.

In year 12 they introduce a hell of a lot more extension subjects. All language subjects have an Extension course as well as History Extension, English Extension 1 & 2 and Maths Extension 1 & 2. Same goes with the unit thing (1 unit subjects) however only 10 units count towards your ATAR, so if you're like me and doing 10 units of non ext subjects and 1 unit of ext, then one of your units isn't going to count towards your ATAR (that being whichever you do the worst in) However i know for sure that English Ext 2 and History Ext have major works which will contribute significantly to huge amounts of stress, especially if you're doing subjects such as Society and Culture, Drama or Art in conjunction with these subjects (Basically try and keep it confined to two major works)

Tbh wouldn't reccomend doing 10 units in year 12 with three or four made up of extension classes because you WILL have a breakdown. (My friend is doing Eng Ext 1 & 2, Maths Ext and History Ext and she literally hates herself for dropping so many 2unit courses to do all the extensions)

lol guys, im talking about hsc..
Its a more difficult and in depth version of the non extension subject. Usually they scale the best since not many people do it

I wouldn't say they scale the best for that reason. How about LOTE?
