Ok guys so heres the Question.

Im not really good at math but im decent. A bit above average for 3 unit math.

Now I'm stuck between choosing 4 unit math or just stay with the 3 unit math.

After much research.

4unit math = 2 units of 4 unit, 2 units of 3 unit.
3unit math= 2 units of 2 unit, 1 unit of 3 unit.

This is what my teacher quoted: "its better to do 3 unit, because for that 1 unit of math there is so much stress more than any other 2 unit subject".

I currently have 11 units with (extension 1 maths), If i do 4 unit math I will have a total of 12 units.

The question.
Ok so If I wanted to do 4 unit math, and I screwed up my (extension 2 maths) meaning I wouldnt want it to count, towards my ATAR,

will have 2units of 3 unit math that counts (since 2 units was based on the ext 2 math).

or

Will I have 3 units (2 unit math, and 1 unit of ext 1 of math (which means it ignores the fact that in the 4 unit course, 2 units of 3 unit is there).

Firstly, if you are doing 4U maths, it will normally be counted because it is a very high scaled subject.

Back to the question - If you are doing 4U, your 2U mark would be ignored (or you wont even sit for 2U exam depends on your school system). therefore, this is correct.

will have 2units of 3 unit math that counts (since 2 units was based on the ext 2 math).

4U is very rewarding and has helped improve my 3U mark. I initially started Yr 12 with 11units and dropped down to 10.

4U will help you with 3U. Try it out, and if you can't cope then drop it.

How do you only have 11 units though if you're in Year 11?

4U helped my 3U marks because doing 4U gave me heaps of confidence in the 3U content and heaps of the 4U stuff can be applied to 3U, plus succeeding in 4U makes 3U a piece of cake :p

I also was wondering if to do MX2 and MX1 next year. I decided that its worth a go and if I dont like it then drop, i reckon there would be a great amount of regret about not picking it if i didn't. Also the HSC isnt meant to be easy, it will be hard but it'll pay off hopefully lol
