is there a shorter way to solve this question

woah what's going on there

it's using difference of two squares
(a2+b2)2 - 2ab
= (a2+b2 + sqrt{2ab})(a2+b2 - sqrt{2ab})

Yeah it's right (well, you do get the right answer), but....you can kiss goodbye to the other half of your exam if you do it in an exam.
