I just did my english oral task and afterwards my teacher told me it was quite hard to understand me :(

is this going to damage my marks??? We had to hand in a transcript of the speech.

My teacher said my transcript (before hand) was very good,

but i fucked up the oral :(

Is this going to damage my mark?

Well, that depends. Like I remember a few people this year who did their belonging speeches and just murmured and mumbled. It was really difficult to understand what they were saying. They scraped 60% and it was really difficult for not only the teacher to maintain focus, but also the audience to be attentive. However, an 'oral' assessment also to a great extent reflects how well you can present yourself and convey information pertinent to the over-arching idea of 'belonging'. So naturally, poor communication skills would somewhat impede your marks, but a transcript might regain a few of the consequently lost marks. I know that clarity does help because it overcomes said problems and allows you to project your texts, ideas and techniques more effectively. I did that and got full marks for the full assessment (p.s. this is from someone who finished the hsc this year, but did belonging in the first term of the year)

Probably yes, because it is an oral presentation. On the marking criteria I had when I did the speech, there was a section for clarity, presentation skills etc. which contributed to the final mark. And not to put you down or anything...if those things didn't matter, then why is the speech/oral presentation an English task?

Do you reackon it is possible t get 12/15?
Yes, but depends on how hard they mark, if they did any standardising of marks, and your exact content.

They did standardising i believe. They made us do it infront of the whole year...

one teacher said it won't signifacntly impact my marks because it is not directly assessed on the marking criteria but i don't quite trust her.

I would be extremely happy with a 12/15.

What do you mean by exact content

I think you could lose 1 or 2 marks. At my school you could have probably lost 5 marks max for presentation, (that included a mark for going over or under time, rapport, etc. Hardly anybody ever lost all 5. I used to sometimes lose just one mark for speaking too quickly). The content was always more important. Check your marking criteria for a better guide.

I handed it in with the transcript.

So the max I will lose is around 3 marks??

Fingers cross.

I went 6:15 which was perfect timing by the way.

What would be the max a school will dedeuct. ?

Stop freaking out, it was one task

You can figure it out, by looking at how many outcomes were assessed
generally for a bad delivery maybe 1-3 marks

So I can get 12/15 ?
As far as I can see, 12/15 would be the maximum mark you could get and that would only be obtainable if you pretty much aced the content of the presentation. Expect between 10-12/15

I wouldn't worry about what the others said

Often the one's who thought they were fine, were actually terrible
I think it's because they underestimate/didn't notice how much work/content was needed
Just something I've noticed...
