I actually don't think this case is that bad. Certainly, it is outside the norm, but I think it is made somewhat tame by the fact that their relationship did not arise out of the typical parent-child power dynamic(/imbalance). Sure, they share genes, but it sounds as though he was absent during her childhood and so you wouldn't expect the parent-child relationship (which is often what makes incest so creepy) in place. Also, she's not in her early teens, she's a grown adult. For all the distaste this case conjures up I don't really see any major problem with it.

But still, the fact that once you find out you're related should be enough to deter you. Eg if you were dating someone and then you find out they were your sister/brother/half-sister//brother, would you still be attracted to them?

Certainly, it would bother me. However, I still think it is worth asking what is wrong with incest in the first place. There are the genetic issues of course (I read somewhere recently that, on average, we have between 2-6 alleles which, if homozygous, would be lethal and of course the chances of having a child homozygous for such 'lethal equivalents' are increased when your partner is closely related) but these can be dealt with, more or less, by using genetic testing/therapy, such as is used to help homogenous racial groups with a high incidence of genetic disorders, e.g. Ashkenazi Jews.

What is wrong beyond this? Personally I am inclined to think that it is the power imbalance and the nature of the parent-child (or sibling?) relationship that makes such relationships questionable. The re seems to be great potential for coercion, rape, and psychological manipulation. However, if you remove these elements (e.g. by separating brother and sister or father and daughter, as in the above cases, from birth) then I'm not sure whether incest really is 'that bad'.

There is interesting data suggesting that our aversion to incest likely evolved due to the pressure exerted by the detrimental effects reproduction with close relatives (on average) has on one's offspring (thus a mechanism for avoiding such unions can be seen as advantageous for one's genes). For the interested see, for example, chapter three of Moral Psychology (volume 1... it's a great series!).
