In no particular order ( except for LOTR ):

Lord of the Rings 1,2,3
The English Patient
American Beauty
The Lives of Others
Pan's Labyrinth
Run Lola Run
The Prestige
Hidden
Braveheart
Little Women
Lilya-4-Ever

I'm a sucker for foreign films, historical epic romances and films with tragic endings.

EDIT: I forgot Kill Bill 1,2 and Shawshank Redemption!
And The Naked Gun - just for laughs.

EDITx2: Ah! I forgot all my favorite old movies, Laura, North by Northwest, Some Like it Hot, Rear Window, The Birds, Double Indemnity...

Are you serious? Lilya-4-Ever?? I've never experienced a more desolate, depressing, hopeless film in my life. I couldn't believe how bad I felt after seeing that film. Wow.

Mine include:
- A Clockwork Orange
- Garden State
- Amelie
- The Rage in Placid Lake
- Fight Club
- Stand By Me
- Billy Elliot
- Almost Famous

Occasionally I think She's The Man and Sorority Boys deserve to be on that list too. Only occasionally though.

The History Boys was pretty good as well...

It was horribly depressing and made me cry for a week, but that just shows what an amazing movie it was. To have been able to move me (and obviously you) to such an extent requires skill. It was so powerful and made me aware that that kind of stuff was out there. It made me want to do something about it.

Sure, try this introduction, I wrote just for you.

Hi, hello, how you doing. Before telling you what my favorite movie is, let me mention a few elements that I think, any good movie should have. Story or the script is, in my opinion the most important part of any movie, this is where any moviemaking process begins, story is what a director has to work with in order to apply his creative artistic mind and create something spectacular. Dialogue comes from the story and just like in real life, sometimes words can influence more than anything else. Next, the director. The way he visualizes the story is very important because his view of the story, should be accessible to the understanding of as many people as possible. And the cast. They are the people, the audiences appreciate if the movie is good and they are the people who the audiences blame if the movie sucks etc...
