feedback mechanisms are required to maintain stable conditions in the body.wen the body conditions become unfavourable, info is sent to the control centre (usually brain) to correct this condition.

An example of a feedback mechanism in humans would be the increase in heart rate and respiratory rate which occurs in response to increased exercise or other increased muscle cell activity.

sweating maintains a stable body temp then the evaporation of this perspiration returns the body to its original temperature. (detection, control,response/ counteract,feedback) hence the correct temp is retored so info is sent to the brain once more to stop the cooling mechanism

A definition of negative feedback is:
Any change in conditions away from the norm or optimum is detected by receptors which switch on a corrective mechanism. The corrective mechanism restores the condition back to normal and then the corrective mechanism is switched off.
The receptor cells which detect the changes in the conditions are located as follows:
1) The osmoreceptors which detect the water concentration in the blood are in the hypothalamus of the brain.
2) The thermoreceptors which detect temperature changes are also in the hypothalamus of the brain.
3) The receptors which detect the blood glucose concentration are located in the pancreas.
